talk about diving head first into a projects!

I was so excited about how well my still life painting class went this summer

[this is after 5 weeks]

that for some reason I thought it would be an amazing idea to try and use what I have learned. So, I started another still life painting. Which is not complete, i must add, but I was feeling good. I thought I had a better understanding blah blah blah. Talk about ambitious. SO this here is a new painting that I decide to do in conjunction with the still life. Talk about in over my head.

1. my class was INSTRUCTED so if i had questions there was someone right there who was AMAZING at painting to give me suggestions, demos, or just say no that’s wrong or yes that’s right…

now….its just me smh

2. i am painting a bird. not fruit. not dishes. and not bottles. So all of the textures that i am painting are not related. feathers and apricots… yea no

3. still life = indoors  bird = out doors

we are not even going get into the difference between colors, highlight, core and cast shadows, that would take me ages…

so, i am kind of at a WHAT WHERE YOU Thinking Moment. there are issues with my drawing the colors and I could go on. Buuuuut rather than freak out, I’m just going to end todays session. Let this oil paint dry for a couple of days. THEN come back and ATTACK.

[the attempt at an underpainting]

[where i am ending my session tonight]

while I wait for this to dry and figure out what to do next, I will most likely go back to dry mediums for a bit …

until next time
